No, invited partners just need to register their user and that’s it!
Apart from office files and pdf previews, can you also preview 3D files in ShareAspace cloud?
We are working with a company called TechSoft3D that develops the HOOPS® 3D viewers. We are currently in a beta-stage of that development and it may take a month or two before we release it to the general public but we can tell you it already looks really cool 🙂
What about Security? Is ShareAspace cloud secure?
Yes, ShareAspace cloud is secure.
First of all, ShareAspace has its own security mechanisms built into the core of the platform itself. It controls who can have access to what information and when. All information stored in ShareAspace has a defined owner, from this it is possible to share access to individual objects. In fact, it is even possible to control access on subsets of information on individual objects. When communicating with ShareAspace all communication is encrypted and secure.
Also, we are using Microsoft Azure B2C AD for managing registered user accounts and we can trust the authentication to other identity providers allowing you to “bring your own identity”.
Can you integrate ERP data, such as purchasing orders, into ShareAspace cloud?
For the enterprise offering, we can help out in setting up custom integrations with ERP systems hosted both on-prem and in the cloud. You could of course also set this up yourself by translating ERP import/exports to the provided import/export formats of ShareAspace. We are also looking into having standard connectors for ERP systems hosted in the cloud.
Can we have several products in one space?
Yes, of course, most companies share the same components between their products and it makes a lot of sense to share all these common parts in one single space.
Is ShareAspace cloud easy to get started?
Yes! When developing the Design-to-Manufacturing application for contract manufacturing in ShareAspace cloud we strived to make our user experience as intuitive as possible and continue to improve 🙂 On top of that, we spent a lot of effort providing a simple onboarding walkthrough helper as well as creating a community forum where you can ask questions, share ideas and we can provide you with all the necessary support to you and your partners.
What additional services will you announce in the near future in 2020 and beyond?
Short term we are looking to announce more on 3D viewing features. Inside the domain Design-to-Manufacturing, we are looking to support the RFI and RFQ process. These are very familiar to us as we have delivered them in on-prem ShareAspace applications for Siemens energy already.
Then there are almost endless opportunities also outside of Design-to-Manufacture, for instance, supporting earlier phases with Model-Based Systems Engineering collaboration and or collaboration involving products in use, for example connecting to Azure IoT services. But for now, we have focused on the Build-to-Print process only.
